Review:
I am definitely in love with this album. Fall Out Boy gets better and better with each album they make. The incredible leap they've made from their first album Evening Out With Your Girlfriend in 2003 to this album is really incredible and I think every album has distinct improvement and exemplifies more talent than the last. This album is another amazing step forward for Fall Out Boy.

I think Disloyal Order Of Water Buffaloes is a great way to kick off the new album. It has that amazing make-your-heart-soar, fantasizing-about-seeing-them-play-it-live feel that only Fall Out Boy can give.

I'm going to avoid talking about songs I've already reviewed (if you want a look, click the links on the songs). I have to say, I really like the lyrics to She's My Winona. It's not my favorite song of the album, but it is great.

Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown On A Bad Bet I find kind of repetitive, but enjoyable. Not much to say on that one.

The (Shipped) Gold Standard is amazing! I love the falsetto Patrick has when he sings "as soon as we hit the hospital" and the lyrics to the chorus are great. I also love the sound of the bridge, the off-beat syncopated sound.

(Coffee's For Closers): Another great song with top-notch lyrics even though it's repetitive, it's still Fall Out Boy so they can get away with it ;)

27 has that dark, fast beat feel to it and I really like it, it's one of my favorites.

Tiffany Blews has a great chorus and bridge and is really fun to listen to (the bridge is cool).

I love w.a.m.s. I think it's one of the best songs and it seems so different from the other songs, but I hope they play it live on Tuesday! (the ending is really strange though)

20 Dollar Nose Bleed is another song with a weird ending except this one kind of creeped me out...

West Coast Smoker was good, but I think they could have picked a stronger piece to end the album. The mention of the Father the Son and the Holy Ghost was interesting because it was really metaphorical and it has double (or more than double) meanings to it.

Wow! That was a long review (sorry!). All in all, this album definitely deserves a  5 star rating
even though the songs were fairly short. I can't wait to see how they do live!

Straight No Chaser

I just discovered this group last night. I was on Youtube and my dad asked me to look up "Straight No Chaser". I (of course) was all "WHY???" because I was watching interviews with Ryan Ross. But I looked them up and now I'm so glad I did!

Straight No Chaser is an a capella group of ten men. They come from Indiana University and they've been around since 1996. Unfortunately, none of the original members are currently in the group, but they're still amazing. They have such tight harmonies and they're always in tune. The performances they give are fun and entertaining, but at the same time are full of incredible musical talent. I mean, they completely blow me away! I'm going to post some videos of the original group and the current group. Personally, I like the original members more, but they are all great <3

Never Think

This song is a gorgeous guitar/vocal piece sung by Robert Pattinson. My interpretation of this song is how much he loves a girl, but he can't be with her. He wants her, but he knows he'll hurt her. He wants her to run, to stay away from him because he's no good for her, but he's admitting that he's not strong enough to stay away from her. He shouldn't even think about being with her because they can't be together, but she loves him, too. He doesn't want her to love him, but at the same time, he does. And she'll loose everything for him, but it's her choice because he's too selfish and weak (in a good way) to stay away even though he knows he should.

This song is so emotional, at least for me. It's about hurting and anger and selfishness and weakness and giving up and holding on and dreaming and loving. It's about love, but the real kind. Pain and hurt and sacrifice and weakness. But there's a sort of peace and happiness to the song. Like he wants to be mad at her for loving him, he wants to hate her, he wants to make her understand how they can't be together, he wants to be strong, but he's relieved and happy that neither of them have the strength.

The music and lyrics just paint a beautiful picture and in that whole description I don't think I was even close to capturing the full essence and full meaning of this beautifully sung piece: Never Think.

Never Think (unofficial video)- *****

Never Think- Robert Pattinson

I should never think
What's in your heart
What's in our home
So I won't

You'll learn to hate me
But still call me baby
Oh love
So call me by my name
And save your soul
Save your soul
Before your to far gone
Before nothing can be done

I'll try to decide when
She'll lie in the end
I ain't got no fight in me
In this whole damn world
So hold off -wrong- (Tell you to hold off)
She should hold off-wrong- (You choose to hold on)
It's the one thing that I've known

Once I put my coat on
I coming out in this all wrong
She standing outside holding me
Saying oh please
I'm in love
I'm in love

Girl save your soul
Go on save your soul
Before it's to far gone
And before nothing can be done

Cause without me
You got it all
So hold on
Without me you got it all
So hold on
Without me you got it all
Without me you got it all
So hold on
Without me you got it all
Without me you got it all
So hold on

Another Way To Die

This is a duet by Jack White (from The White Stripes) and Alicia Keys made for the new James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace. It's a beautiful combination of alternative and pop. I think their voices really compliment each other. Her smooth and powerful voice matches beautifully with his rough and mysterious voice.

There has never been a duet song made for a Bond movie, so I thought it was very smart to put these two together. The song is really about trust and how James Bond can't trust anyone, not even himself. I really like the lyrics.

One part I love is when Jack screeches these guitar riffs and Alicia answers with her matching and yet contrasting voice.

I hope you appreciate this wonderful, um, musical paradox? I don't know if that makes sense, but it does to me. Then again that doesn't mean much :P

Enjoy!

Another Way To Die

Another Way To Die- Jack White and Alicia Keys

Another player with the slick trigger finger
For Her Majesty
Another one with the golden tone voice
Poisoning your fantasy
Another bill from a killer
Turned a thriller into a tragedy

A door left open
A woman walking by
A drop in the water
A look in the eye
A phone on the table
A man on your side
Oh, someone that you think that you can trust
Is just
Another way to die

Another tricky little gun
Giving solace to the one
That will never see the sunshine
Another inch of your life sacrificed for your brother,
In the nick of time
Another dirty money “heaven sent honey”,
Turning on a dime

Well, a door left open
A woman walking by
A drop in the water
A look in the eye
A phone on the table
A man on your side
Someone that you think that you can trust
Is just
Another way to die

Hey! Another way to die!
(Another way to die…)
Shoot ‘em, bang bang!
Oh oh oh oh oh oh!
Oh oh oh oh oh oh!
Oh oh oh oh oh oh!
Oh oh oh oh oh oh…

Yeah
Hey hey hey!

Another girl with her finger
On the world singing too
Don’t you wanna hear?
Another gun thrown down and surrendered
Took away your fear
Hey!
Another man that stands right behind you
Looking in the mirror

Oh, a door left open
A woman walking by
A drop in the water
A look in the eye
A phone on the table
A man on your side
Someone that you think that you can trust
Is just
Another way to die

It’s another way!
Shoot ’em up, bang bang!
Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!
(Another way, another way…)
Yeah!
(Another way, another way…

You're Gonna Go Far, Kid

I discovered this band and song on Fuse while I was watching the #1 Countdown: Alternative. Their video came in number 1 and I can see why. It fails to bore anyone and it's incredibly fun to dance to; it definitely gets your adrenaline rushing! I actually like this guy's voice, too. I don't know why, it's not really special or anything, but then again there could be a perfectly good reason but I just wrote my Rock Band Live review and my brain is fried lol.

So enjoy, enjoy!

You're Gonna Go Far, Kid-****

You're Gonna Go Far Kid- The Offspring

Show me how to lie
You're getting better all the time
And turning all against one
is an art that's hard to teach

Another clever word
sets off an unsuspecting herd
And as you step back into line
a mob jumps to their feet

Now dance, fucker, dance
man, he never had a chance
And no one even knew
It was really only you

And now you steal away
Take him out today
nice work you did
You’re gonna go far, kid

With a thousand lies
And a good disguise
Hit em' right between the eyes
Hit em' right between the eyes

when you walk away,
nothing more to say.
see the lightning in your eyes
see em' running for their lives

slowly out of line
and drifting closer in your sights
So play it all, I’m wide awake
It’s a scene about me

There’s something in your way
And now someone is gonna pay
And if you can’t get what you want
Well, it’s all because of me

Now dance, fucker, dance
man he never had a chance
And no one even knew
It was really only you

And now you lead the way
show the light of day
nice work you did
You’re gonna go far, kid

Trust deceived!

With a thousand lies
And a good disguise
Hit em' right between the eyes
Hit em' right between the eyes

when you walk away
Nothing more to say
See the lightning in your eyes
See them running for their lives

Now dance, fucker, dance
He never had a chance
And no one even knew
It was really only you

So dance, fucker, dance
I never had a chance
It was really only you

With a thousand lies
And a good disguise
Hit em' right between the eyes
Hit em' right between the eyes

when you walk away
Nothing more to say
See the lightning in your eyes
see them running for their lives

clever alibis
lord of the flies
Hit em' right between the eyes
Hit em' right between the eyes

when you walk away
Nothing more to say
See the lightning in your eyes
See em' running for their lives

Risky Business

As some of you may know (even though inside I know I'm only talking to two people who do know) I went to a Rock Band Live concert on Sunday. The bands that played there were The Cab, Plain White T's, Dashboard Confessional, and Panic At The Disco (respectively). Today I am reviewing one of the songs by The Cab that stuck with me.

This song is called Risky Business. Before The Cab started playing, the front man told us that whenever he said "Stop asking" we say "Keep dancing!". I just can't get through that song without singing that line lol :P (see short video below)

Risky Business (live at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey)

The Cab:
Alex DeLeon-vocals
Cash Colligan-bass
Alex Johnson-drums
Alex Marshall-piano, vocals, guitar
Ian Crawford-guitar

I think this song is just so fun to dance to. I also have to say that The Cab is really advanced considering this is from their first and only album (so far) and it just came out in April! I love the bridge, too (I'm talkin bout change...). It's all great so please enjoy! (and if I'm building them up to be better than they are you have to understand I'm not aware of this because seeing them live makes me automatically love them)

Risky Business (unofficial video)

Risky Business- The Cab

Hide the key cause I'm coming over
To settle the score, woah
Don't forget how well I know you
Stop asking, keep dancing

You don't stand a chance, girl, you'll fall apart
Stop talking with your hands, girl
You'll have to start over, over again
(Ooh oh oh oh oh oh)
Maybe, I'll call up and call you out
Maybe, next time you should turn around
Over, over again
(Ooh oh oh oh oh oh)

And put, put, put your heart where your mouth is
Put, put, put your heart where your mouth is now

Hide the key cause I'm coming over
To settle the score, woah
Do ooh, do ooh stop asking, keep dancing

You think that I am blind, girl
My eyes are always floating in your mind, girl
You'll have to start over, over again
(Ooh oh oh oh oh oh)
Maybe, I'm the one that plays the games
Maybe, I'll turn to make the same mistakes
Over, over again

(Ooh oh oh oh oh oh)

Baby you should put, put, put your heart where your mouth is
And put, put, put your heart where your mouth is now

Hide the key cause I'm coming over
To settle the score, woah
Don't forget how well I know you,
I'll take, take, take, take you down
Do ooh, do ooh stop asking, keep dancing
Do ooh, do ooh stop asking and keep dancing

I'm talking 'bout change
You really want to see the way
But if you want to see then you need to settle down
We're talking 'bout change
You really want to see the way
But if you want to see then you need to settle down, down, down

Hide the key cause I'm coming over
To settle the score, woah
Don't forget how well I know you,
I'll take, take, take, take you down

It's Almost Halloween!

Tomorrow is Halloween and what's a better way to celebrate it than with Panic At The Disco! I try not to post about an artist more than once, but this video just made my day. I mean, have you ever seen Ryan dance??? THAT MUCH????? And Brendon makes an awesome vampire! I love how Spencer is always falling down :P These guys are great and they never cease to win my love <3

It's Almost Halloween

It's Almost Halloween- Panic At The Disco

I'm carving pumpkins
It's almost Halloween
All my friends are wondering
What they're gonna be
The monster mash is playing
You're moving to the beat
And now we're gonna teach you
To do the trick or treat

Everybody scream
Everybody scream
It's almost Halloween
Do the trick or treat
Do the trick or treat
It's almost Halloween
Everybody scream

There's a devil in the corner
In candy apple red
Dressed up like a fire
Burning through my head
I got a little closer
And offered her a drink
Who took me to the graveyard
And we did the trick or treat

Everybody scream
Everybody scream
It's only Halloween
Do the trick or treat
Do the trick or treat
It's only Halloween
Everybody scream

Before I learned her name
We were already asleep
When I woke up in my coffin
She was nowhere to be seen
Was it all a dream?
Who can I believe?
It can't be what it seems
It was only Halloween
What does it all mean?

Everybody scream
Everybody scream
If it's Halloween
Do the trick or treat
Do the trick or treat
It was only Halloween
Everybody scream

Everybody scream
It was Halloween
Do the trick or treat
Do the trick or treat
It was only Halloween
Everybody scream

The White Stripes

I've decided to look up bands I know but never heard and one band I've been hearing about, but never listened to was The White Stripes. They're a band from 1997 who are still around. Meg and Jack White are the members of the band. They got married, but were later divorced and Jack had taken on her last name (White). So The White Stripes were born! And I bought a few of their songs and I really like them! I like the garage rock revival thing they have going. So here are two of the songs I bought. The Seven Nation Army video kinda gives me a headache, but Icky Thump is a good video. Have fun!

Seven Nation Army

Seven Nation Army- The White Stripes

I'm gonna fight 'em all
A nation army couldn't hold me back
They're gonna rip it off
Taking their time right behind my back

And I'm talking to myself at night
Because I can't forget
Back and forth through my mind
Behind a cigarette

And the message coming from my eyes
Says leave it alone

Don't want to hear about it
Every single one's got a story to tell
Everyone knows about it
From the Queen of England to the hounds of hell
And if I catch it coming back my way
I'm gonna serve it to you
And that ain't what you want to hear
But that's what I'll do

And the feeling coming from my bones
Says find a home
I'm going to Wichita
Far from this opera for evermore
I'm gonna work the straw
Make the sweat drip out of every pore

And I'm bleeding, and I'm bleeding, and I'm bleeding
Right before the lord
All the words are gonna bleed from me
And I will sing no more

And the stains coming from my blood
Tell me go back home

--------------------------------

Icky Thump

Icky Thump- The White Stripes

IIIIIIEEEEEEE
icky thump
who'da thunk?
sittin' drunk on a wagon to Mexico.

ahh well
what a chump
well my head got a bump
when I hit it on the radio.

redhead senorita
looking dead
came and said
"Need a bed?"
en EspaƱol.

I said
"Gimme a drink a water
I'm gonna 'sing around the collar
and I don't need a microphone."

icky thump
with a lump in my throat
grabbed my coat
and now it's reckon
I was ready to go!

and I swear
besides the head
she had one white eye,
one blank stare
lookin' up
lyin' there.

on the stand
near her hand
was a candy cane
black rum, sugar cane,
dry ice (and) something strange.

la la la la la la la
la la la la la la la

white Americans, what?
nothing better to do?
why don't you kick yourself out
you're an immigrant too.

who's using who? what should we do?
well, you can't be a pimp
and a prostitute too.

icky thump
handcuffed to a bunk
robbed blind
looked around
and there was nobody else.

left alone
i hit myself with a stone
went home and learned how
to clean up after myself.

Blog Changes

I just added a new backround and a new gadget on the side bar so I hope you like it!

Yellow

Hi! I know I have been gone for a while and my Kerli post is getting kinda old so I'm going to post about a new artist: Coldplay.

I took this quiz called "What's Your Love Song?" and my result was "Yellow by Coldplay". So I decided to check it out. And I have to tell you, I fell in love. Short and sweet, but what really gets me is the pure simplicity. He wrote a song for her. He called it "Yellow". The stars shine for her. And they are Yellow. He'd swim an ocean for her, he'd jump across it for her. He thinks she's beautiful. He loves her so.
I mean, how easy can it be? He loves whoever he's talking to and that's it. It's a nice song and I was never really into Coldplay before, but know I have to look up more of their stuff.

I also love how the vocals are very simple and they convey emotion without doing anything ground-breakingly drastic. No screaming, no huge changes. Just singing. And the music holds most of the emotion in the song which I really like.

The video is just as simple (possibly simpler) than the song and I like the lighting and how it gets brighter as the song goes along.

Enjoy!

Yellow - ****1/2

Yellow- Coldplay

Look at the stars,
Look how they shine for you,
And everything you do,
Yeah they were all yellow,

I came along
I wrote a song for you
And all the things you do
And it was called yellow

So then I took my turn
Oh all the things I've done
And it was all yellow

Your skin
Oh yeah your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
D'you know you know I love you so
You know I love you so

I swam across
I jumped across for you
Oh all the things you do
Cause you were all yellow

I drew a line
I drew a line for you
Oh what a thing to do
And it was all yellow

Your skin
Oh yeah your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
D'you know for you i bleed myself dry
For you i bleed myself dry

Its true look how they shine for you
look how they shine for you
look how they shine for you
look how they shine for you
look how they shine for you
look how they shine
look at the stars look how they shine for you

Kerli

I discovered this new artist who just came out with her debut album this July. Her name is Kerli Koiv and she's a singer from Estonia (is it just me or are all Estonian females blond? At Kathaumixw this past summer they were all blond!). She has a great voice. These two songs are my favorite, but I love most of her songs on her album Love Is Dead. I like how they're pop songs that have generally happy meanings, but they have that dark side to them. I like the video Love Is Dead better than Walking On Air but they're both a little amateur-ish. They're still great songs, though! All the embedding is disabled for her videos so here are the links to youtube. I hope you like it!

Walking On Air video

Walking On Air- Kerli

There's a little creepy house
In a little creepy place
Little creepy town
In a little creepy world
Little creepy girl
With her little creepy face
Saying funny things that you have never heard

Do you know what it's all about
Are you brave enough to figure out
Know that you could set your world on fire
If you are strong enough to leave your doubts

Feel it
Breathe it
Believe it
And you'll be walking on air
Go try
Go fly
So high
And you'll be walking on air
You feel this
unless you kill me
Go on
And you're forgiven
I knew that
I could feel that
I feel like
I am walking on air

She has a little creepy cat
And a little creepy bat
Little rocking chair and an old blue hat
That little creepy girl
Oh she loves to sing
She has a little gift
An amazing thing
With her little funny eyes of hazel
With her little funny old blue hat
She will go and set the world on fire
No one ever thought she could do that

Feel it
Breathe it
Believe it
And you'll be walking on air
Go try
Go fly
So high
And you'll be walking on air
You feel this
unless you kill me
Go on
And you're forgiven
I knew that
I could feel that
I feel like
I am walking on air

Flitter up
and Hover down
Be all around
Be all around

You know that I love you, go on

Feel it
Breathe it
Believe it
And you'll be walking on air
Go try
Go fly
So high
And you'll be walking on air
You feel this
unless you kill this
Go on
And you're forgiven
I knew that
I could feel that
I feel like
I am walking on air

I am walking on air x3

Love Is Dead video

Love Is Dead- Kerli

This is the hardest part
when you feel like you're fading
All that you have has become unreal
collapsing, and aching

All I want, All I want is right here
but love don't live here anymore
(love is dead, love is gone, love don't live here anymore)
love don't live here anymore
(love is dead, love is gone, love don't live here anymore)

I know that you think of me when you're
beside her, inside her
it must be so hard for you to
deny it and hide it

Oh, all I want
All I want is right here,
but love don't live here anymore
(love is dead, love is gone, love don't live here anymore)
and love don't live here anymore
(love is dead, love is gone, love don't live here anymore)x2

love don't live here anymore
(love is dead, love is gone, love don't live here anymore)
love don't live here anymore
(love is dead, love is gone, love don't live here anymore)x4

Oooh, love don't live here anymore

Tonight, Tonight

When I first heard this song I completely fell in love. It was the first song I heard by the Smashing Pumpkins and the lyrics just really get to me. It's about hope and confidence and change and, well, believing. The message is so simple and the words so beautiful. Below is the music video and lyrics. Below that is Brendon Urie performing Tonight, Tonight in concert. I think he does it wonderfully. Enjoy!

Tonight, Tonight

Tonight, Tonight- Smashing Pumpkins

Time is never time at all
You can never ever leave without leaving a piece of youth
And our lives are forever changed
We will never be the same
The more you change the less you feel

Believe, believe in me, believe
Believe that life can change
That youre not stuck in vain
Were not the same, were different tonight
Tonight, so bright
Tonight

And you know youre never sure
But youre sure you could be right
If you held yourself up to the light
And the embers never fade in your city by the lake
The place where you were born

Believe, believe in me, believe
Believe in the resolute urgency of now
And if you believe theres not a chance tonight
Tonight, so bright
Tonight

Well crucify the insincere tonight
Well make things right, well feel it all tonight
Well find a way to offer up the night tonight
The indescribable moments of your life tonight
The impossible is possible tonight
Believe in me as I believe in you, tonight

I Don't Care

I just got this song on my iPod yesterday and I am completely in love with it. It's got a great dancing-type beat and the chorus is kind of a dark/mysterious feel. I love the change in the beat in the fourth chorus (it's starred). I can definitely see it as a song that would connect with a live audience well and would be great to see in concert. Patrick's voice has really grown and it was just great to get some fresh, new material from Fall Out Boy. Yes, here is FOB's single from their upcoming album Folie A Duex called I Don't Care.

I Don't Care (not official video)- *****

I Don't Care- Fall Out Boy

Say my name, and his in the same breath, I
Dare you to say they taste the same,
Let the leaves fall off in the summer
And let December glow feel flames

Brace myself and let go,
Start it over again in Mexico
These friends, they don’t love you
They just love the hotel suites, now

I don’t care what you think
As long as it’s about me
The best of us can find happiness
In misery

Oh, take a chance, let your body get a tolerance,
I’m not a chance, but a heat wave in your pants
Pull a breath like another cigarette,
Palms up, I’m trading ‘em (trading ‘em)

I’m the oracle in my chest,
Let the guitar scream like a fascist,
Sweat it out, shut your mouth,
Free love on the streets, but
In the alley and I ain’t that cheap, now

I don’t care what you think,
As long as it’s about me
The best of us can find happiness
In misery

I don’t care what you think,
As long as it’s about me
The best of us can find happiness
In misery

Said-a, I don’t care just a-what you think,
As long as it’s about me, you said-a
I don’t care just what you think,
As long as it’s about me, you said-a
I don’t care (I don’t care)
You said I don’t care (I don’t care)
Said I don’t care,
I don’t care
I don’t care (I don’t care), I said-a
I don’t care

*I don’t care what you think,
As long as it’s about me

Hey There Delilah

Hi! I'm sorry I haven't posted anything in over week. But I was just listening to my iPod while I was writing the other day and I listened to this song that I haven't heard in months. As I was listening to it I realized how beautiful and simple it was. Just a guitar and vocals with some cello/violin at the end. Simple, but gorgeous. The yrics are wonderful and the whole song is so pure, so sincere. I really love it. Of course I can especially relate to NYC, so it makes it that much more special. Three cheers for Plain White T's! P.S. I rate this song five stars.

Hey There Delilah- *****

Hey There Delilah- Plain White T's

Hey there Delilah
What's it like in New York City?
I'm a thousand miles away
But girl, tonight you look so pretty
Yes you do
Times Square can't shine as bright as you
I swear it's true

Hey there Delilah
Don't you worry about the distance
I'm right there if you get lonely
Give this song another listen
Close your eyes
Listen to my voice, it's my disguise
I'm by your side

Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
What you do to me

Hey there Delilah
I know times are getting hard
But just believe me, girl
Someday I'll pay the bills with this guitar
We'll have it good
We'll have the life we knew we would
My word is good

Hey there Delilah
I've got so much left to say
If every simple song I wrote to you
Would take your breath away
I'd write it all
Even more in love with me you'd fall
We'd have it all

Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me

A thousand miles seems pretty far
But they've got planes and trains and cars
I'd walk to you if I had no other way
Our friends would all make fun of us
and we'll just laugh along because we know
That none of them have felt this way
Delilah I can promise you
That by the time we get through
The world will never ever be the same
And you're to blame

Hey there Delilah
You be good and don't you miss me
Two more years and you'll be done with school
And I'll be making history like I do
You'll know it's all because of you
We can do whatever we want to

Hey there Delilah here's to you
This one's for you

Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
What you do to me.

(oh)

Angel

My mother really loves this girl. And I have to admit, she's talented. Who is this girl? Sarah McLachlan.

Angel is my favorite song by her. She's really amazing because she writes all the lyrics and all the music to all of her songs. She has a gorgeous voice and her music is very inspiring. I'm going to give you a link to a video of her singing Angel, but I'm also going to give you a link to listen to the same song with what I think is better sound quality. But there are some things different about each and I love them both. Enjoy.

Sarah McLachlan- vocals, piano, keyboard, guitar, harp

Angel live (no video)

Angel (video)

Angel- Sarah McLachlan

Spend all your time waiting
For that second chance
For a break that would make it okay
There’s always one reason
To feel not good enough
And it’s hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction
Oh beautiful release
Memory seeps from my veins
Let me be empty
And weightless and maybe
I’ll find some peace tonight

In the arms of an angel
Fly away from here
From this dark cold hotel room
And the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage
Of your silent reverie
You’re in the arms of the angel
May you find some comfort there

So tired of the straight line
And everywhere you turn
There’s vultures and thieves at your back
And the storm keeps on twisting
You keep on building the lie
That you make up for all that you lack
It don’t make no difference
Escaping one last time
It’s easier to believe in this sweet madness oh
This glorious sadness that brings me to my knees

In the arms of an angel
Fly away from here
From this dark cold hotel room
And the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage
Of your silent reverie
You’re in the arms of the angel
May you find some comfort there
You’re in the arms of the angel
May you find some comfort here

Within Temptation

Hello fellow human beings! I just discovered a new band called Within Temptation. I first heard of them online, but I thought nothing of it. Then the other day I saw their most recent album in Best Buy. So, I looked them up on iTunes and they are amazing. It's a sort of mix between Evanescence and Nightwish. The Dutch sextet has four full-length studio albums and one of their EP albums was limited edition and sold only at Hot Topic stores. All proceeds from their single Frozen are donated to Child Helpline International. They have gret music that have rock, metal and symphonic elements. Ireally like them and invite you all to listen to the only songs I have of them due to a dwindiling iTunes allowance >.<

Sharon den Adel- vocals (Robert's girlfriend and mother of Eva Luna)
Robert Westerholt- guitar, backing vocals (Sharon's boyfriend and father of Eva Luna)
Ruud Adrianus Jolie- lead guitar
Jeroen van Veen- bass guitar
Martijn Spierenburg- keyboards
Stephen van Haestregt- drums

Our Solemn Hour-listen

Our Solemn Hour- Within Temptation

Sanctus Espiritus redeem us from our solemn hour
Sanctus Espiritus insanity is all around us
Sanctus Espiritus! Sanctus Espiritus! Sanctus Espiritus!

In my darkest hours I could not foresee
That the tide could turn so fast to this degree
Can´t believe my eyes
How can you be so blind?
Is the heart of stone, no empathy inside?
Time keeps on slipping away and we haven´t learned
So in the end now what have we gained?

Sanctus Espiritus, redeem us from our solemn hour
Sanctus Espiritus, insanity is all around us
Sanctus Espiritus, is this what we deserve,
can we break free from chains of never-ending agony?

Are they themselves to blame, the misery, the pain?
Didn´t we let go, allowed it, let it grow?
If we can´t restrain the beast which dwells inside
it will find it´s way somehow, somewhere in time
Will we remember all of the suffering
Cause if we fail it will be in vain

Sanctus Espiritus, redeem us from our solemn hour
Sanctus Espiritus, insanity is all around us
Sanctus Espiritus, is this what we deserve,
can we break free from chains of never-ending agony?

All I Need

All I Need- Within Temptation

I´m dying to catch my breath
Oh why don´t I ever learn?
I´ve lost all my trust,
though I´ve surely tried to turn it around

Can you still see the heart of me?
All my agony fades away
when you hold me in your embrace

Don´t tear me down for all I need
Make my heart a better place
Give me something I can believe
Don´t tear me down
You´ve opened the door now, don´t let it close

I´m here on the edge again
I wish I could let it go
I know that I´m only one step away
from turning it around

Can you still see the heart of me?
All my agony fades away
when you hold me in your embrace

Don´t tear me down for all I need
Make my heart a better place
Give me something I can believe

Don´t tear it down, what´s left of me
Make my heart a better place

I tried many times but nothing was real
Make it fade away, don´t break me down
I want to believe that this is for real
Save me from my fear
Don´t tear me down

Don´t tear me down for all I need
Make my heart a better place
Don´t tear me down for all I need
Make my heart a better place

Give me something I can believe
Don´t tear it down, what´s left of me
Make my heart a better place
Make my heart a better place

Frozen

Frozen- Within Temptation

I can´t feel my senses
I just feel the cold
All colors seem to fade away
I can´t reach my soul
I would stop running, If knew there was a chance
It tears me apart to sacrifice it all but I´m forced to let go

Tell me I´m frozen but what can I do?
Can´t tell the reasons I did it for you
When lies turn into truth I sacrificed for you
You say that I´m frozen but what can I do?

I can feel your sorrow
You won´t forgive me,
but I know you´ll be all right
It tears me apart that you will never know but I have to let go

Tell me I´m frozen but what can I do?
Can´t tell the reasons I did it for you
When lies turn into truth I sacrificed for you
You say that I´m frozen but what can I do?

Everything will slip way
Shattered peaces will remain
When memories fade into emptiness
Only time will tell its tale
If it all has been in vain

I can´t feel my senses
I just feel the cold
Frozen...
But what can I do?
Frozen...

Tell me I´m frozen but what can I do?
Can´t tell the reasons I did it for you
When lies turn into truth I sacrificed for you
You say that I´m frozen, frozen...

OneRepublic (and Timbaland i guess)

This band is one of those bands that have the famous songs that are always on the radio and all the popular kids have their songs on their iPods. That's usually the exact opposite of the type of music I like, but I'm going to bend the rules a little in this case. I really like these next two songs taht I'm going to share with you by OneRepublic.

Stop and Stare is a song that I really love the lyrics to and the suspension in the song is great. Watch the video

Stop and Stare- OneRepublic

This town is colder now, I think it's sick of us
It's time to make our move, I'm shakin off the rust
I've got my heart set on anywhere but here
I'm staring down myself, counting up the years
Steady hands, just take the wheel...
And every glance is killing me
Time to make one last appeal...
for the life I lead

Stop and stare
I think I'm moving but I go nowhere
Yeah I know that everyone gets scared
But I've become what I can't be, oh
Stop and stare
You start to wonder why you're 'here' not there
And you'd give anything to get what's fair
But fair ain't what you really need
Oh, can u see what I see

They're tryin to come back, all my senses push
Un-tie the weight bags, I never thought I could...
Steady feet, don't fail me now
Gonna run till you can't walk
But something pulls my focus out
And I'm standing down...

Stop and stare
I think I'm moving but I go nowhere
Yeah I know that everyone gets scared
But I've become what I can't be, oh
Stop and stare
You start to wonder why you're here not there
And you'd give anything to get what's fair
But fair ain't what you really need
Oh, you don't need
What u need, what u need...

Stop and stare
I think I'm moving but I go nowhere
Yeah I know that everyone gets scared
But I've become what I can't be
Oh, do u see what I see...

Apologize has great lyrics, too, but I really wanted to share this video with you. I just love it. It represents what happens in a relationship when one persons gives out their heart and the other gives nothing. I have to say, I also like the original song without Timbaland which you can listen to here.

Apologize

Apologize- Timbaland (feat. OneRepublic)

I'm holding on your rope, got me ten feet off the ground
I'm hearin what you say but I just can't make a sound
You tell me that you need me
Then you go and cut me down, but wait
You tell me that you're sorry
Didn't think I'd turn around, and say that...

It's too late to apologize,
it's too late
I said it's too late to apologize,
it's too late

I'd take another chance, take a fall, take a shot for you
And I need you like a heart needs a beat
But it's nothing new
I loved you with a fire red-
Now it's turning blue, and you say...
"Sorry" like the angel heaven let me think was you
But I'm afraid...

It's too late to apologize,
it's too late
I said it's too late to apologize,
it's too late

Bridge (guitar/piano)

It's too late to apologize,
it's too late
I said it's too late to apologize,
it's too late
It's too late to apologize, yeah
I said it's too late to apologize, yeah-

I'm holdin on your rope, got me ten feet off the ground...

Lacey Mosley (Flyleaf)

Lacey Nicole Mosley is the lead singer of the band Flyleaf. I wanted to share with you everything that I found out about her because I think she is an amazing person.

Lacey was born in Arlington, Texas to a single mother of six kids. Her family was very poor and they often moved from place to place, trying to find work that would make ends meet. She had a terrible relationship with her mother which she described as "a war zone going on at home" and eventually started doing drugs. "The first time I ever did drugs, I was ten years old. I kind of kept it a secret from people at school, and I always had a thought that it was wrong, you know. I kinda knew it was wrong. But, then, when I was thirteen, I found these other people that did drugs and I got even worse into it. It was like whatever I could do, I would do it, you know? I was trying to figure out who I was, and anything to separate me from my family, or to separate me from my situation at home, was awesome, was good to me."~Lacey Mosley

At fourteen Lacey got a bass guitar and started playing. At sixteen, fights with her mom were too intense and the police stepped in. She went to live with her grandparents in Mississippi and joined a band. She eventually quit for bad communication and the negative music.

Lacey left her family soon after that and left drugs behind. Unfortunately, that led to what she calls a "nervous breakdown". She cut off her hair and became suicidal. Her grandmother then urged her to attend church.

She later got married and moved to Temple, Texas. She divorced soon after, but luckily met James, Jared, Sameer, and Pat who all joined together and have been together as Flyleaf (after being called Passerby) ever since.

I think Lacey is an incredibly inspiring person and it's amazing how she pulled through all the drugs, depression and divorce. I commend her for her strength and courage. I think Flyleaf is a great group and you should check out this amazing song they wrote about Jesus:

All Around Me

All Around Me- Flyleaf

My hands are searching for you
My arms are outstretched towards you
I feel you on my fingertips
My tongue dances behind my lips for you

This fire rising through my being
Burning I'm not used to seeing you

I'm alive, I'm alive

I can feel you all around me
Thickening the air I'm breathing
Holding on to what I'm feeling
Savoring this heart that's healing

My hands float up above me
And you whisper you love me
And I begin to fade
Into our secret place

The music makes me sway
The angels singing say we are alone with you
I am alone and they are too with you

I'm alive, I'm alive

I can feel you all around me
Thickening the air I'm breathing
Holding on to what I'm feeling
Savoring this heart that's healing

And so I cry
The light is white
And I see you

I'm alive, I'm alive, I'm alive

I can feel you all around me
Thickening the air I'm breathing
Holding on to what I'm feeling
Savoring this heart that's healing

Take my hand
I give it to you
Now you own me
All I am
You said you would never leave me
I believe you
I believe

I can feel you all around me
Thickening the air I'm breathing
Holding on to what I'm feeling
Savoring this heart that's healed

Personally, I like the acoustic version better. Same lyrics, same meaning, just more organic.

All Around Me (acoustic version)-Flyleaf

To end this post I leave you with a quote that I find inspiring:

"We all share the same faith. And so when we deal with the whole 'Christian band thing,' we kind of think about something P.O.D. says, like, 'If you're a Christian, it affects everything in your life. So if you're a plumber, does that make you a Christian plumber?' I don't know the answer. We're a band, it's part of who we are, so it comes out in our music, and it's the fuel for what we do. And finding faith saved my life. So I'm not ashamed of it at all. And most of our album reflects that."~ Lacey Mosley

Thriving Ivory

This is a new band that I discovered under "Say You Heard 'Em Before They Were Big!" at Best Buy. They have a beautiful album cover. It's a band of five guys who have major potential, but aren't quite as good as they could (and should) be. The lead singer needs a better technique, but they're pretty good. Good enough to be on my blog at least! So here they are:

Clayton Stroope-lead vocals, guitar
Scott Jason-piano/keyboards
Drew Cribly-guitar, backing vocals
Bret Cohune-bass
Paul Niedermier-drums, percussion

http://www.thrivingivory.com/

I love their single, "Angels on the Moon". Take a listen (and a look I guess).

Angels on the Moon

Angels on the Moon- Thriving Ivory

Do you dream, that the world will know your name
So tell me your name
Do you care, about all the little things or anything at all?
I wanna feel, all the chemicals inside I wanna feel
I wanna sunburn, just to know that I'm alive
To know I'm alive

Don't tell me if I'm dying, cause I don't wanna know
If I can't see the sun, maybe I should go
Don't wake me cause I'm dreaming, of angels on the moon
Where everyone you know, never leaves too soon

Do you believe, in the day that you were born
Tell me do you believe?
Do you know, that everyday's the first of the rest of your life

Don't tell me if I'm dying, cause I don't wanna know
If I can't see the sun, maybe I should go
Don't wake me cause I'm dreaming, of angels on the moon
Where everyone you know, never leaves too soon

This is to one last day in the shadows
And to know a brother's love
This is to New York City angels
And the rivers of our blood
This is to all of us, to all of us

Don't tell me if I'm dying, cause I don't wanna know
If I can't see the sun, maybe I should go
Don't wake me cause I'm dreaming, of angels on the moon
Where everyone you know, never leaves too soon

You can tell me all your thoughts, about the stars that fill polluted skies
And show me where you run to, when no one's left to take your side
But don't tell me where the road ends, cause I just don't wanna know, No I don't wanna know

Don't tell me if I'm dying
Don't tell me if I'm dying
Don't tell me if I'm dying

Wonderful

I discovered this band through my friend a long time ago and they've just been sitting in my iPod for months. I finally listened to them again last night and I just love the lyrics to this song, Wonderful. Here's the video:

Wonderful

Wonderful- Everclear

hey, aint life wonderful? wonderful, wonderful, wonderful... isnt it wonderful
Now?

I close my eyes when I get too sad
I think thoughts that I know are bad
Close my eyes and I count to ten
Hope its over when I open them

I want the things that I had before
Like a star wars poster on my bedroom door
I wish I could count to ten
Make everything be wonderful again

Hope my mom and I hope my dad
Will figure out why they get so mad
Hear them scream, I hear them fight
They say bad words that make me wanna cry

Close my eyes when I go to bed
And I dream of angels who make me smile
I feel better when I hear them say
Everything will be wonderful someday

Promises mean everything when youre little
And the worlds so big
I just dont understand how
You can smile with all those tears in your eyes
Tell me everything is wonderful now

Please dont tell me everything is wonderful now

I go to school and I run and play
I tell the kids that its all okay
I laugh aloud so my friends wont know
When the bell rings I just dont wanna go home

Go to my room and I close my eyes
I make believe that I have a new life
I dont believe you when you say
Everything will be wonderful someday

Promises mean everything when youre little
And the world is so big
I just dont understand how
You can smile with all those tears in your eyes
When you tell me everything is wonderful now

No
No, I dont wanna hear you tell me everything is wonderful now
No
No, I dont wanna hear you tell me everything is wonderful now

I dont wanna hear you say
That I will understand someday
No, no, no, no
I dont wanna hear you say
You both have grown in a different way
No, no, no, no
I dont wanna meet your friends
And I dont wanna start over again
I just want my life to be the same
Just like it used to be
Some days I hate everything
I hate everything
Everyone and everything
Please dont tell me everything is wonderful now...

I dont wanna hear you tell me everything is wonderful now

Unknown Soldier

Hi everyone. Today I'm going to review a great song by Breaking Benjamin. As you can see, they've made it to my "awesome bands, cool music stores and anything else that has to do with music" list, so they're pretty awesome. So this song is from they're album Phobia and it's about (well, the way I see it) fighting the world and the bipolar emotions and thoughts we all have knowing we fight the world till we die and wanting to escape reality. Wanting to see life through a screen. Because we are one of the thousands of soldiers that the world doesn't know about.

There is no video that does this song justice so to listen, click here.

Unknown Soldier- Breaking Benjamin

Borderline,
Dead inside.
I don't mind,
Falling to pieces.
Count me in,
Violent,
Let's begin.
Feeding the sickness.
How do I simplify,
Dislocate,
The enemy is on the way.

[Chorus]
Show me what it's like
To dream in black and white,
So I can leave this world tonight.

Full of fear,
Everclear.
I'll be here,
Fighting forever.
Curious,
Venomous,
You'll find me
Climbing to heaven.
Never mind,
Turn back time.
You'll be fine,
I will get left behind.

[Chorus]
Show me what it's like
To dream in black and white,
So I can leave this world tonight.
Holding on too tight.
Breathe the breath of life,
So I can leave this world behind.

It only hurts just once.
They're only broken bones.
Hide the hate inside.

[Chorus]
Show me what it's like
To dream in black and white,
So I can leave this world tonight.
Holding on too tight.
Breathe the breath of life,
So I can leave this world behind.

Evil Angel

This is another wonderful song by breaking Benjamin. It's played beautifully with great drums and guitar parts, wonderful suspense and incredible conviction. I really love it. I see it as being betrayed by someone you love, but needing them nonetheless and feeling helpless.

Again, there is no video for this song so to listen to it, click here.

Evil Angel- Breaking Benjamin

Hold it together.
Birds of a feather.
Nothing but lies and crooked wings.
I have the answer.
Spreading the cancer.
You are the faith inside me.
No, Don't, leave me to die here.
Help me survive here, alone.
Don't Remember!
Remember!

Put me to sleep, Evil Angel.
Open your wings, Evil Angel. (Ahhh)

I'm a believer.
Nothing could be worse.
All these imaginary friends.
Hiding betrayal.
Driving the nail.
Hoping to find a savior.
No, don't, leave me to die here.
Help me survive here, alone.
Don't Surrender!
Surrender!

Put me to sleep, Evil Angel.
Open your wings, Evil Angel. (oohh)
Fly over me, Evil Angel.
Why can't I breathe, Evil Angel?

Put me to sleep, Evil Angel.
Open your wings, Evil Angel. (oohh)
Fly over me, Evil Angel.
Why can't I breathe, Evil Angel?

Handlebars

This is an amazing song. I first heard it on music.is.life and I fell in love. This hip hop/rap style of music doesn't usually interest me, but this lyrics and feeling and meaning behind them is just stunning. It's about ambition and changing and growing with the world's technology and how the competition to be better than anyone else can put you in a place with too much power and no guidance. How ambition and lack of gratitude and humility can pull you in the wrong direction. And the way the singer executes this song is shocking. He has every emotion down to where you feel exactly what he's saying without screaming or cursing or losing complete control. I also must admit that that is one of the first trumpet players I've heard to play a piece with such conviction. It's a wonderful modern touch to this very modern-world related song. My skin tingles and my heart races every time I listen to this song because it's so incredibly powerful. The video is great and really explains the competition between him and his friend and him being thrown into a world with so much power and he goes crazy. And how things really get out of hand. Watch.

Handlebars

Hanlebars- Flobots

I can ride my bike with no handlebars, no handlebars, no handlebars
I can ride my bike with no handlebars, no handlebars, no handlebars

Look at me, look at me
Hands in the air like it's good to be
Alive, and I'm a famous rapper
Even when the paths're all crooked-y
I can show you how to do-si-do
I can show you how to scratch a record
I can take apart the remote control
And I can almost put it back together
I can tie a knot in a cherry stem
I can tell you about Leif Ericson
I know all the words to "De Colores"
And "I'm Proud to be an American"
Me and my friend saw a platypus
Me and my friend made a comic book
And guess how long it took
I can do anything that I want 'cause, look

I can keep rhythm with no metronome, no metronome, no metronome
I can see your face on the telephone, on the telephone, on the telephone

Look at me, look at me
Just called to say that it's good to be
Alive, in such a small world
All curled up with a book to read
I can make money, open up a thrift store
I can make a living off a magazine
I can design an engine, sixty four
Miles to a gallon of gasoline
I can make new antibiotics
I can make computers survive aquatic conditions
I know how to run a business
And I can make you wanna buy a product
Movers, shakers, and producers
Me and my friends understand the future
I see the strings that control the systems
I can do anything with no assistance

I can lead a nation with a microphone, with a microphone, with a microphone
I can split the atoms of a molecule, of a molecule, of a molecule

Look at me, look at me
Driving and I won't stop
And it feels so good to be
Alive and on top
My reach is global, my tower secure
My cause is noble, my power is pure
I can hand out a million vaccinations
Or let 'em all die in exasperation
Have 'em all healed of their lacerations
Have 'em all killed by assassination
I can make anybody go to prison
Just because I don't like 'em and
I can do anything with no permission
I have it all under my command

I can guide a missile by satellite, by satellite, by satellite
And I can hit a target through a telescope, through a telescope, through a telescope
And I can end the planet in a holocaust, in a holocaust, in a holocaust ...

I can ride my bike with no handlebars, no handlebars, no handlebars
I can ride my bike with no handlebars, no handlebars, no handlebars

Okay, one thing at a time. First, I rated the songs in previous reviews so check them out. Desert Song I rate 5 stars because it's a gorgeous song. It gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it.
Next is the video diary which is full of interviews and footage of My Chem and the people who have met and worked with them. It reminded me of why I love them so much and it just inspired me all over again. I see their lives as a tragic love story between music and life and in the end they just can't be torn apart. How they've risen from who they used to be in music and in life is just beautiful.
The live performances of MCR are great. They are incredibly emotional and incredibly energetic. Frank has an AMAZING amount of energy, it's great how into his music he is. Which brings us to their live TV performance where Frank tried playing while standing on Bob's drum set and fell off bringing half the set with him.
I really enjoyed the online performances from Sessions@AOL because Gerard uses his amazing vocals as if in a studio combined with the energy and improv he has during live performances (and, luckily, Bob was able to play his full drum set through all the songs). It's also easier to see the emotion in his face with camera close ups, etc. (Launch was kind of like a live performances except they looked a little worn out)
I love the video for I'm Not Okay!It was really interesting to see the meaning behind everything they did and also interesting because that was the first thing Bob did with MCR even before he did a concert. He had two days of rehearsal and then he did the video.
I also love Helena and I loved how most of the people who did the video were already MCR fans.
The Ghost Of You made me cry the first time I saw it. Great video, I love all of the vids for Revenge.
CD and DVD together, I rate this album 5 stars. Long Live MCR!

Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge

Hi everybody, it's MCR time again. This time I'm reviewing their second album, Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge.

TRACKS:
[~=singles *=videos]

1. ~*"Helena"-*****
2. "Give 'Em Hell Kid"-*****
3. "To The End"-*****
4. "You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison"-*****
5. ~*"I'm Not Okay"-*****
6. ~*"The Ghost Of You"-*****
7. "The Jetset Life Is Gonna Kill You"-****
8. "Interlude"-**
9. ~"Thank You For The Venom"-*****
10. "Hang 'Em High"-****
11. "It's Not A Fashion Statement, It's A Deathwish"-***
12. "Cemetery Drive"-*****
13. "I Never Told You What I Do For A Living"-*****
14. "Bury Me In Black" (Japanese version bonus track; demo)

This album is probably my favorite album by My Chem(this album was not on Eyeball Records, but was made after the band signed to Reprise Records, to which they are still signed to today). I really appreciate the fact that the songs have to do with prison and war and high school and that they really connect with the fans. I'm Not Okay was the first song that really touched me and really made me a fan. Along with this album was their new look. Along with that came Marilyn Manson's attack on Gerard Way for imitating his make up. There was controversy that MM's song Imitation Is The Most Sincere Form Of Flattery was written as an attack on My Chem, but was denied by Manson saying it was about bands in general attempting to imitate him.

This album also brought along with it their first three videos. I will be doing reviews of them along with my review of Life On The Murder Scene. This band has grown a lot in two albums and I was (and am) really proud of them. All in all, I rate this album 5 stars.

I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love

Greetings from N.C.! I decided that since it is My Chem Month and today is the anniversary for their debut album, it's time for.... A debut album review!!! (I know I'm so freaking clever, right? I bet you didn't even see that coming) So, here I am to present to you I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love!

TRACKS:
[~=single +=not written by MCR]

1. +"Romance"-*****
2. ~"Honey This Mirror Isn't Big Enough For The Two Of Us"-*****
3. ~"Vampires Will Never Hurt You"-*****
4. "Drowning Lessons"-***
5. ~"Our Lady Of Sorrows"-*****
6. ~"Headfirst For Halos"-*****
7. "Skylines And Turnstiles"-****1/2
8. "Early Sunsets Over Monroeville"-****
9. "This Is The Best Day Ever"-***1/2
10. "Cubicles"-***1/2
11. "Demolition Lovers"-*****

So, this album was released on July 23, 2002 at the start of MCR's career (they were, at the time, signed to Eyeball Records). I rate this album an over all of 4 stars. I really like this album because it shows how much this band has improved, but also gives this pure emotion of how crappy their lives were during the time of this album and the songs have a lot of meaning to them. I love how the album starts off with a soft and quite beautiful guitar part in Romance and then leads into This Mirror Isn't Big Enough with the electric guitar. Headfirst For Halos started out as a joke about Frank getting high, but ended up being a really great song. Skylines And Turnstiles was the first song ever written by MCR about Gerard witnessing 9/11 from a ferry. All in all, this is a great album with a lot of struggles, victories and history behind it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE!

Today is My Chemical Romance's birthday! 6 years ago today their first full-length album, I Brought You My Bullets You Brought Me Your Love, was released. A new outlook on Pretty. Odd.

I want to apologize to my friend for leaving a comment on her blog saying I wasn't a fan of Northern Downpour, I lied :) I especially want to apologize to Panic At The Disco if I ever dissed them. Yesterday I went shopping and got Pretty. Odd. at F.Y.E. I just downloaded it on my iPod (I got a nano!) and I was shocked. The so called (or as I called them) "cheesy" lyrics were incredibly powerful and uplifting and the new sound is just great. I completely understand what's so great about Northern Downpour and I've decided to rate all the songs by stars:

We're So Starving- ***
Nine In The Afternoon- *****
She's A Handsome Woman- ***1/2
Do You Know What I'm Seeing?- *****
That Green Gentleman (Things Have Changed)- *****
I Have Friends In Holy Spaces- ****
Northern Downpour- *****
When The Day Met The Night- *****
Pas De Cheval- ***
The Piano Knows Something I Don't Know- ****
Behind The Sea- ****1/2
Folkin' Around- *****
She Had The World- ***1/2
From A Mountain In The Middle Of The Cabins- *****
Mad As Rabbits- ****

I really love how Ryan gets to sing in Mad As Rabbits and She Had The World. He has a great voice, but he needs to put a little more enthusiasm in his voice and he goes a little flat when he scoops to a note. Of course, I could criticize Brendon, but I'm so used to his voice and that's why I notice more things about Ryan. I especially like when he sings in She Had The World, I think he sounds great.

So, that's it for today. I won't be posting in eight days because I'll be in Vancouver for my competition. Wish me luck!

More B'days!

Happy Birthday Tim McCord! Tim was born in California and is now officially 29! He's the bassist for Evanescence.

Jason and deMarco

I was just looking these guys up on iTunes. I was watching showtime this morning and they were showing the documentary on their lives. Jason and deMarco are gay lovers who travel the world performing pop songs together in churches, dance clubs and at pride events. They are both very spiritual and religious people and they want to show the world that you can be spiritual and gay. They battle critisism from both anti-gay churches and from they gay community. They work together to integrate spituality and homosexuality and they beleive in accepting all religions and sexual orientations. I think they are very inspiring and amazing people. They have two full-length albums, Spirit Pop and Till The End Of Time.

They're great singers and great people. Check out they're website and google them. Here is their music video and a video of one of my fave songs:

I incourage you all to look into them.

"...shake, shake, uh shake it!..."

Hi everybody! Do you love the new template? I found it on http://www.pyzam.com/, it has great blog templates. Anyway, I'm here to give you #1 on Fuse's #1 countdown because I didn't have time to yesterday. The video is to the song Shake It by Metro Station. Unfortunately, the embedding for all the videos is disabled. So here's a link: http://youtube.com/watch?v=EpU78IeTx_c

he feelings stirring me up (here we go now)

[Pre Chorus:]Now if she does it like this will you do it like that
Now if she touches like this, will you touch her right back

New Stuff

I have lots of new stuff to show you. For a couple of them, I am just going to show you through a link. It's a song called Love Me Dead by Ludo: http://musicislife3168.blogspot.com/2008/06/love-me-dead.html

This is another link to the same blog. It's for a beautiful String Quartet: http://musicislife3168.blogspot.com/2008/06/vitamin-string-quartet-new-spin-on-old.html

Alright, now down to business. First, I am going to review an album by Panic(!) At The Disco. It's their latest album Pretty. Odd.

I have to say that I was a little disappointed with this album and some of the choices Panic(!) made along with it. One reason is because some of the songs in A Fever You Can't Sweat Out were really great, like But It's Better If You Do; Build God, Then We'll Talk; Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off; I Write Sins Not Tragedies and Time To Dance. Unfortunately, Panic(!) chose to go for a more soft-rock, upbeat, Beatles-like side of their music and with some Alice in Wonderland and happy, lovey lyrics they came up with something, well, Pretty. Odd. Also, they chose to get rid of the ! in their name on January 9th. I thought that was one on the best things about their name and the only reason I ever bothered to look them up is because I thought the exclamation was awesome when I saw the name in Fall Out Boy's video for Thanks For The Memories.

But I have to commend them for the courage to withstand the pressure of writing music like everyone else. I love how they brought back that old feel to music and the Beatles-like stuff. They probably knew that's that everyone was going to criticize them, but they were ready. Also, I loved them even more after reading this quote by Ryan Ross: "I try to think of the person who's worked an eight-hour day, the person who gets in the car and puts on their radio. I'd like them to hear a song that makes them feel happy for three minutes rather than something that makes them more depressed than they already are. We're not afraid to write about love or being happy. We have an entire culture that is either provocative or negative. It's so geared toward being shocking that it no longer manages to shock. They've pushed it as far as they can go both sexually and in terms of anger. Which is why we're here, to provide something different." I think Ryan's dead on with this quote and after reading this I have more respect and admiration for the music they have on Pretty. Odd. I also have to say that the exclamation point doesn't really fit the new feel of the band and their music, anyway.

Therefore, I neither love nor hate this album, but I think it's Pretty. Good. Here are the songs:

1. We're So Starving
2. Nine In the Afternoon
3. She's a Handsome Woman
4. Do You Know What I'm Seeing?
5. That Green Gentleman (Things Have Changed)
6. I Have Friends In Holy Spaces
7. Northern Downpour
8. When the Day Met the Night
9. Pas de Cheval
10. The Piano Knows Something I Don't Know
11. Behind the Sea
12. Folkin' Around
13. She Had the World
14. From a Mountain In the Middle of the Cabins
15. Mad As Rabbits

I encourage you all to listen to the album and watch the videos:
Nine In the Afternoon
That Green Gentleman

I would like to share with you a video I saw on Fuse yesterday in their #1 countdown. I think it came in at #6.

That's What You Get- Paramore

That's What You Get- Paramore

No sir, well I don't wanna be the blame, not anymore.
It's your turn, to take a seat we're settling the final score.
And why do we like to hurt, so much?

I can't decide
You have made it harder just to go on
And why?
All the possibilities...
Well I was wrong

That's what you get when you let your heart win. Whoa!
That's what you get when you let your heart win. Whoa...
I drown out all my sense with the sound of its beating.
And that's what you get when you let your heart win. Whoa.

I wonder, how am I supposed to feel when you're not here.
'Cause I burned every bridge I ever built when you were here.
I still try... holding onto silly things, I never learn.
Oh why? All the possibilities. I'm sure you've heard.

That's what you get when you let your heart win. Whoa!
That's what you get when you let your heart win. Whoa..
I drown out all my sense with the sound of its beating.
And that's what you get when you let your heart win. Whoa.

Hey, make your way to me. (to me)
And I'll always be just so inviting.
If I ever start to think straight,
This heart will start a riot in me,
Let's start... Start, hey!

Why do we like to hurt so much?
Oh why do we like to hurt so much?

That's what you get when you let your heart win!
Whoa.

That's what you get when you let your heart win, whoa.
That's what you get when you let your heart win, whoa.

Now I can't trust myself with anything but this,
And that's what you get when you let your heart win, whoa
