Desolation Row (cover)

Am I nuts???!!!! How could I forget to review My Chemical Romance's cover of Desolation Row? MCR (as you should all know) covered Bob Dylan's Desolation Row for the end credits of the upcoming movie Watchmen. The cover was released on January 26 and became available in vinyl the next day. The video just came out on February 3rd and I completely forgot to post about it!

It's so good to see MCR back onstage (even of it is in a video). It's like, 'The boys are back!". I thought that everyone looked good in the video. It was great to see Gee put on the amazing performance he always does.

I thought his voice was really good and my favorite thing about him is how much energy and emotion he puts into his singing.

I DEFINITLY like My Chem's cover of Desolation Row much better than the original. I know that's probably outlawed in the world of music or something (lol) but it's true!

Great cover, great video, need I say more? Enjoy ;)

Desolation Row (cover by MCR)

My Chemical Romance - Desolation Row

Desolation Row (cover version)- My Chemical Romance

They're
Selling postcards
Of the hanging
Well they're painting
The passports brown
And the beauty parlor
Is filled with sailors
The circus is in town
And now here comes
The blind commissioner
Well they got him in a trance
One hand is tied
To the tight-rope walker
The other is in his pants
And the riot squad
They're restless
They need somewhere to go
As Lady
And I look out tonight
From Desolation Row

Cinderella
She seems so easy
"Well it takes one to know one"
She smiles
And she puts her hands
In her back pockets
Bette Davis style
And now in comes Romeo
Moaning
"You Belong to Me I Believe"
And someone says
"You're in the wrong place
My friend
You better leave"
And then the only sound that's left
After the ambulances go
Is Cinderella sweeping up
On Desolation Row

Now at midnight all the agents
And superhuman crew
Go out and round up everyone
That knows more than they do
They're gonna bring them to the factory
Where the heart-attack machine
Is strapped across their shoulders
And then the kerosene
Is brought down from the castles
By insurance men who go
Check to see
That no one is escaping
To Desolation Row

'Cause right now I can't read too good
Don't send me no more letters no
Not unless you gonna mail them
From Desolation Row

your video's not working! D:

this song isn't going to be in the end credits; it's during the movie. apparently, at a pretty pivital part of the plot, too (:
it's the first time my chem's ever recorded a song to be in a film.
they've recorded songs for end credits before - i know they did a remix of "to the end" for one of the Underworld movie credits (the second, i believe).
but this is the first time they've recorded one to be played during the film!

there's not enough i could say about this cover. it's simply splendid.
when choosing which lyrics to keep and which to let go for the cover, i think gerard made a wise decisions. all the verses are simply stunning. the band really cut down the song to be short, sweet and to-the-point without losing any of the song's charm.
also, the punk-rock sound the band has fallen back on really suits them; it's like their "three cheers" sound paired up with their "black parade" experience to give them an amazing, in-your-face new style.

the music video is simply amazing <3 so great to see them all perform again!

i can't wait to see the Watchmen movie; i'm reading the comics now and am 100% obsessed x]
having this song in the movie will just make it that much better ;)

The title directly above the video is a link to where I got the video (I think it's their website, I don't remember). If the video's not working, click that.

Sorry about the technical difficulties!
