A New Widget

I have discovered a way to keep myself from posting about the same artists over and over! I now have a spot on my sidebar for songs I like by artists I've already reviewed. I will still post about new stuff that old artists come out with, but any songs that haven't come out in the current year that I really like, I will post on my sidebar.

Feel Good Drag

So this song is Feel Good Drag by Anberlin. I discovered them on Fuse (like most of the artists I post about) and I really fell in love with this song.

I love the introduction to the song, because it's exciting enough to interest you, but it has that tinge of suspense that leads into the first verse. The verses are very cool and story like while the chorus is more of the emotional part. I like the strain Stephen Christian has to his voice, it really pulls you in to the chorus.

But I have a pet peeve: repetitiveness. I think Christian gave it all at the first chorus and so past that, there wasn't anything exciting. I was disappointed that he didn't change his voice with the different chorus sections and/or didn't play around with any notes or rhythms. The vocals also seemed to be quite dynamically impaired.

Guitar, guitar. I liked the guitar part in this song including the solo.

All in all, this is a pretty good song and I am giving it 4 stars :) Enjoy!

Feel Good Drag- ****

Feel Good Drag- Anberlin

"I'm here for you," she said
and we can stay for awhile,
my boyfriend's gone
we can just pretend.
Lips that need no introduction
Now who's the greater sin
Your drab eyes seem to invite
(tell me darling) Where do we begin.

Was this over before...
before it ever began?
Your kiss, your calls, your crutch
Like the devil's got your hand
This was over before
Before it ever began
Your lips, your lies, your lust
Like the devil's in your hands

Everyone in this town
is seeing somebody else
Everybody's tired of someone
our eyes wander for help
Prayers that need no answer now
I'm tired of who I am
You were my greatest mistake
I fell in love with your sin
Your littlest sin

Was this over before...
before it ever began?
Your kiss, your calls, your crutch
Like the devil's got your hand
This was over before
Before it ever began
Your lips, your lies, your lust
Like the devil's in your hands

Failure is your disease
You want my outline drawn
You were my greatest failure
Discourse your saving song

Was this over before...
before it ever began?
Your kiss, your calls, your crutch
Like the devil's got your hand
This was over before
Before it ever began
Your lips, your lies, your lust
Like the devil's in your hands

Idol is back!

I have been super busy and even though I haven't had time to read people's blogs and comment and what not, I finally found a video of someone's audition from American Idol who I really liked and I just wanted you all to hear him.

I think this guy has an amazing voice. It's so powerful and it completely takes up the whole room! I love what he did with Somewhere Over The Rainbow and let me tell you- he sang the CRAP out of that song! He also just looks like a really nice, fun guy that I would love to hang out with <3>
lol
So here is the link to Von Smith singing Somewhere Over The Rainbow for his American Idol audition: (click here!)

I will post ASAP! I have a lot of music to review :)

Rabbit In Your Headlights

This is a video/song by Unkle. I found out about it while I was looking up Panic At The Disco interviews (I have no life) and I found their "video lineup" for Rage so I looked up all the videos they mentioned and this one really stuck with me (if you don't want the whole Rage thing and want to skip to the part about Rabbit In Your Headlights click here)(but it's really fun to watch so I suggest you watch the whole thing)(in fact, maybe I'll just post all their videos in one post, what do you think?)

So this this is Rabbit In Your Headlights by U-N-K-L-E (lol) and I just really love the video because it could mean so many things. I feel like the coat represents his boundaries and his insecurities and the cars are like all the obstacles that face him in life. Even the two guys that slow down to help him because I think that shows that when your too obsessed in your own faults and you hide in your own insecurities, opportunities can pass you by.

I really love the video and I hope you do too!

Rabbit In Your Headlights

Rabbit In Your Headlights- Unkle

Im a rabbit in your headlights
Scared of the spotlight
You dont come to visit
Im stuck in this bed

Thin rubber gloves
She laughs when shes crying
She cries when shes laughing

Fat bloody fingers are sucking your soul away...
(away....away....away....)

Im a rabbit in your headlights
Christian suburbanite
Washed down the toliet
Money to burn

Fat bloody fingers are sucking your soul away...

Sample from movie jacobs ladder :
If youre frightened of dyin and youre holding on...
Youll see devils tearing your life away.
But...if youve made your peace,
Then the devila are really angels
Freeing you from the earth.....from the earth....from the earth

Rotworms on the underground
Caught between stations
Butterfingers
Im losing my patience

Im a rabbit in your headlights
Christian suburbanite
You got money to burn....

Fat bloody fingers are sucking your soul away.....
Away, away, away,
Away, away, away.

Sex On Fire

Happy New Year everybody! I have a bunch of new songs and videos that I bought over winter break so I will be posting a lot.

My first post is about a song called Sex On Fire by Kings Of Leon. I first heard this song while I was watching Fuse and I couldn't get it out of my head. Whenever that happens I know I have to buy it.

I really do love this guy's voice and I especially like when he sings "You" because his voice cracks and I just love listening to it :P

I'm not so sure about the lyrics. You can make your own interpretation, but I'm mostly posting about this song for the sound of it which is not something I always do. So enjoy!

Sex On Fire (official video, sorry, but the embedding is disabled)

Sex On Fire- Kings Of Leon

Lay where you're laying
Don't make a sound
I know they're watching
They're watching

All the commotion
The kiddie like play
Has people talking
Talking

You
Your sex is on fire

Dark of the alley
The breaking of day
Head while I'm driving
I'm driving

Soft lips are open
Them nuckles is pale
Feels like you're dying
Your dying

You
Your sex is on fire
And so
Were the words to transpire

Hot as a fever
Rattling bones
I could just taste it
Taste it

But it's not forever
But it's just tonight
Oh we're still the greatest
The greatest
The greatest

You
Your sex is on fire
You
Your sex is on fire

And so
Were the words to transpire

And you
Your sex is on fire
And so
Were the words to transpire

Review:
I am definitely in love with this album. Fall Out Boy gets better and better with each album they make. The incredible leap they've made from their first album Evening Out With Your Girlfriend in 2003 to this album is really incredible and I think every album has distinct improvement and exemplifies more talent than the last. This album is another amazing step forward for Fall Out Boy.

I think Disloyal Order Of Water Buffaloes is a great way to kick off the new album. It has that amazing make-your-heart-soar, fantasizing-about-seeing-them-play-it-live feel that only Fall Out Boy can give.

I'm going to avoid talking about songs I've already reviewed (if you want a look, click the links on the songs). I have to say, I really like the lyrics to She's My Winona. It's not my favorite song of the album, but it is great.

Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown On A Bad Bet I find kind of repetitive, but enjoyable. Not much to say on that one.

The (Shipped) Gold Standard is amazing! I love the falsetto Patrick has when he sings "as soon as we hit the hospital" and the lyrics to the chorus are great. I also love the sound of the bridge, the off-beat syncopated sound.

(Coffee's For Closers): Another great song with top-notch lyrics even though it's repetitive, it's still Fall Out Boy so they can get away with it ;)

27 has that dark, fast beat feel to it and I really like it, it's one of my favorites.

Tiffany Blews has a great chorus and bridge and is really fun to listen to (the bridge is cool).

I love w.a.m.s. I think it's one of the best songs and it seems so different from the other songs, but I hope they play it live on Tuesday! (the ending is really strange though)

20 Dollar Nose Bleed is another song with a weird ending except this one kind of creeped me out...

West Coast Smoker was good, but I think they could have picked a stronger piece to end the album. The mention of the Father the Son and the Holy Ghost was interesting because it was really metaphorical and it has double (or more than double) meanings to it.

Wow! That was a long review (sorry!). All in all, this album definitely deserves a  5 star rating
even though the songs were fairly short. I can't wait to see how they do live!
