More Adam

So I have been really busy and kind of neglecting this blog, so I missed out on a lot of things Adam Lambert has done. So I'm going to brush up on his American Idol performances.

If I Can't Have You (Top 7, song by Yvonne Elliman)

This is one of my favorite performances from Adam. He puts a lot of feeling into the words and the finesse he uses in his voice fits perfectly with the words. You can tell he's really into the song and he just makes you feel so deeply. Add that with his flawless technique, amazing voice and stunning stage presence (again, I apologize for the quality of the videos) and you have an absolute five star performance.

Feeling Good (Top 6, song by Sammy Davis, Jr., version by Muse)

Surprisingly enough, this performance landed Adam in the bottom two. I think it was because his use of the stairs gave him a very haughty self-indulgent air about him, but I think he was brilliant. It felt like a real show watching him swing his hips as he very sassily(???) walked down Ryan Seacrest's stair case at the beginning of his song. I love the lyrics and the song itself is great. He did Muse's version of it and I thought it was good, even if it wasn't his strongest performance (he didn't deserve to be in the bottom).

Whole Lotta Love (Top 5, song by Led Zeppelin)

YES! LED ZEPPELIN! This was SO perfect for him, and he totally nailed it! I was super excited about him doing Rock Week and he definitely pulled it off. He worked with Slash (from Guns N' Roses) this week and he took his advice to stay in his lower range, which was brilliant since he shows off his high range a lot. The pure rock sound and sexual feeling that the song has came out wonderfully in his voice and he was the rock star of the night. Yeah!

Slow Ride (Duet with Allison Iraheta, Top 5, song by Foghat)

The perfect pair! Allison and Adam have been my two favorites throughout the whole competition and I was SOOO excited to hear their duet. It was great! Adam held back a little as to not show off in front of Allison and he two of them had great chemistry on stage, they gave a great performance. Allison is amazing, too, and at 16 I think she has an amazingly advanced voice for her age (and in general).

One (Simon Cowell's choice, Top 4, song by U2)

I do have to say that Adam has an amazingly talent for suspension in a song and building up to the climax. He keeps the song moving even if it has a tendency to get boring (as this one does). I thought he sang it well and kept us pulled in, and I loved how he arranged it. Flawless as Adam always is :).

Cryin' (Top 3, song by Aerosmith)

"...someone I can't resist..." didn't that make you feel like you were really struggling to resist something that you just couldn't? Great. Flawless. Amazing.

Mad World (Favorite performance, Top 2, song by Tears For Fears)

Adam got to do his favorite performance of the season and he picked Mad World. Last time he sang in a plain jacket with a chair and blue light. Very "subtle" (as subtle as Adam can be), quiet and showed a different side of Mr. Lambert. This time, though, I loved how he made it very theater/Broadway
with the AWESOME trench coat and the even sexier fog. The song showed one side of him while the stage showed another. Beautiful ;).

A Change Is Gonna Come (producer Simon Fuller's choice, Top 2, song by Sam Cooke)

Simon Fuller is a brilliant man. I have to say, this is DEFINITELY one of Adam's top 3 performances. The slow quiet with the strong blasting sides of his voice mixed with such powerful lyrics, amazing music, an A suit and the most eye-catching stage presence EVER this song was absolutely stunning. I mean, your whole heart and soul is pulled into it, especially when he holds that one note and then slides into the next and you can feel yourself holding your breath. This is absolutely one of my favorites.
Adam had actually performed this song at The Zodiac Show. You can hear how much better his technique is now, but I like the Zodiac one because you can really see him put a lot of feeling into the song and really be himself without the pressure of AI and the media. You can see the video (and it's a real video) at the bottom of this post.

No Boundaries (mandatory, Top 2, co-written by Kara DioGuordi and premiered on the show)

This was my least favorite performance, more so because I didn't particularly like the song. It was a little too cheesy, predictable, and stereo-typically pop for me. It did not suit Adam's voice. He pulled it off, though :).

Adam Lambert

This is a man I have been closely following on American Idol. He is by far my favorite contestant and he is such an amazing musician and an amazing performer that the only way you could NOT like him is out of jealousy ;) I should have been tracking him on this blog, but I haven't been so I am going to make up for it by posting the longest post ever about him :D

Well let's see, Adam was born January 29, 1282 in Los Angeles, California. He grew up in San Diego and has been performing since he was 10. He was cast as Linus in San Diego's Lyceum Theater's production of You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown. he played a part in The Ten Commandments in the Kodak Theater and he was the understudy for Fiyero in the touring and Los Angeles casts of Wicked. He is now one of the Top 7 on American Idol and, as I said, my FAVORITE contestant. Here's a video of him singing "Dancing Through Life" from Wicked as Fiyero.

Dancing Through Life

Isn't he great? He can dance and sing and act like CRAZY! Like, can you say triple threat?! Here is the Adam Lambert chronicles on American Idol:
(okay as much as I tried, I could NOT find any videos! These "videos" are only his pictures with the song playing. Sorry because he's amazing to watch. Okay wait, I lied, some of these are videos but they're very low quality)

Bohemian Rhapsody (San Francisco auditions, song by Queen)

Believe (Hollywood week 3, song by Cher)

(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction (Top 36, song by The Rolling Stones)

Black Or White (Top 13, song by Michael Jackson)

Ring Of Fire (Top 11, song by Johnny Cash)

The Tracks Of My Tears (Top 10, song by The Miracles)

Play That Funky Music (Top 9, song by Wild Cherry)
(this one is the only video I could find that has the full song, but it plays some other weird song at the end so sorry about that)(oh and if you can find the performance video, please watch it! He dances in it! lol)

Mad World (Top 8, song by Tears for Fears)

Born To Be Wild (Top 7, song by Steppenwolf)

Do you see why he is my favorite? Every week he has been consistently flawless and he has chords of steel. He also has a great technique and when he sings he uses every color and every tool to his voice to completely draw you in and transport you into a completely different place. It's like your on your own world with you and Adam when he sings. On top of all this, he is a pro at performing. He brings everyone in, the band, the judges, the audience and the people watching at home. His energy is absolutely contagious! I am so glad that American Idol has finally discovered some fresh new talent worth buying an album from! We can just pray that he doesn't get sucked into the pop genre like everyone else...

Adam is also a great person. He's so sincere in everything he does and I think his reason for winning American Idol- to be a role model- is wonderful and I know he's going to be great no matter what he does in music. So here is Adam on what he thinks about American Idol and please vote, Vote, VOTE! :P

Idol is back!

I have been super busy and even though I haven't had time to read people's blogs and comment and what not, I finally found a video of someone's audition from American Idol who I really liked and I just wanted you all to hear him.

I think this guy has an amazing voice. It's so powerful and it completely takes up the whole room! I love what he did with Somewhere Over The Rainbow and let me tell you- he sang the CRAP out of that song! He also just looks like a really nice, fun guy that I would love to hang out with <3>
lol
So here is the link to Von Smith singing Somewhere Over The Rainbow for his American Idol audition: (click here!)

I will post ASAP! I have a lot of music to review :)

Kerli

I discovered this new artist who just came out with her debut album this July. Her name is Kerli Koiv and she's a singer from Estonia (is it just me or are all Estonian females blond? At Kathaumixw this past summer they were all blond!). She has a great voice. These two songs are my favorite, but I love most of her songs on her album Love Is Dead. I like how they're pop songs that have generally happy meanings, but they have that dark side to them. I like the video Love Is Dead better than Walking On Air but they're both a little amateur-ish. They're still great songs, though! All the embedding is disabled for her videos so here are the links to youtube. I hope you like it!

Walking On Air video

Walking On Air- Kerli

There's a little creepy house
In a little creepy place
Little creepy town
In a little creepy world
Little creepy girl
With her little creepy face
Saying funny things that you have never heard

Do you know what it's all about
Are you brave enough to figure out
Know that you could set your world on fire
If you are strong enough to leave your doubts

Feel it
Breathe it
Believe it
And you'll be walking on air
Go try
Go fly
So high
And you'll be walking on air
You feel this
unless you kill me
Go on
And you're forgiven
I knew that
I could feel that
I feel like
I am walking on air

She has a little creepy cat
And a little creepy bat
Little rocking chair and an old blue hat
That little creepy girl
Oh she loves to sing
She has a little gift
An amazing thing
With her little funny eyes of hazel
With her little funny old blue hat
She will go and set the world on fire
No one ever thought she could do that

Feel it
Breathe it
Believe it
And you'll be walking on air
Go try
Go fly
So high
And you'll be walking on air
You feel this
unless you kill me
Go on
And you're forgiven
I knew that
I could feel that
I feel like
I am walking on air

Flitter up
and Hover down
Be all around
Be all around

You know that I love you, go on

Feel it
Breathe it
Believe it
And you'll be walking on air
Go try
Go fly
So high
And you'll be walking on air
You feel this
unless you kill this
Go on
And you're forgiven
I knew that
I could feel that
I feel like
I am walking on air

I am walking on air x3

Love Is Dead video

Love Is Dead- Kerli

This is the hardest part
when you feel like you're fading
All that you have has become unreal
collapsing, and aching

All I want, All I want is right here
but love don't live here anymore
(love is dead, love is gone, love don't live here anymore)
love don't live here anymore
(love is dead, love is gone, love don't live here anymore)

I know that you think of me when you're
beside her, inside her
it must be so hard for you to
deny it and hide it

Oh, all I want
All I want is right here,
but love don't live here anymore
(love is dead, love is gone, love don't live here anymore)
and love don't live here anymore
(love is dead, love is gone, love don't live here anymore)x2

love don't live here anymore
(love is dead, love is gone, love don't live here anymore)
love don't live here anymore
(love is dead, love is gone, love don't live here anymore)x4

Oooh, love don't live here anymore

Jason and deMarco

I was just looking these guys up on iTunes. I was watching showtime this morning and they were showing the documentary on their lives. Jason and deMarco are gay lovers who travel the world performing pop songs together in churches, dance clubs and at pride events. They are both very spiritual and religious people and they want to show the world that you can be spiritual and gay. They battle critisism from both anti-gay churches and from they gay community. They work together to integrate spituality and homosexuality and they beleive in accepting all religions and sexual orientations. I think they are very inspiring and amazing people. They have two full-length albums, Spirit Pop and Till The End Of Time.

They're great singers and great people. Check out they're website and google them. Here is their music video and a video of one of my fave songs:

I incourage you all to look into them.

Congrats to David Cook!

Congratulations, David! If for some reason you don't know what I mean, David Cook just won American Idol on Wednesday. I'm so glad America finally got it right! I was expecting David Archuleta to win because he's cute, young, sweet and a great ballad singer. But David Cook was definitely more of a musician and had more experience. America always votes for the cute one, but they finally got it right! Of course, I would have been extremely happy if either Davids won; they're both stars. Here are a couple of my fave performances by Cook:

Innocent

Billie Jean

Rock on David Cook! Woo hoo!
